Think Social! A Social Thinking Curriculum for School-Age Students
Think Social! is a core Social Thinking curriculum book and complements Thinking about YOU Thinking about ME. The book provides step-by-step methods for teaching social-cognitive and -communicative skills to students who have these challenges that affect their school and home life. Students and adults with autism spectrum disorders (particularly high-functioning autism and Asperger’s Syndrome), nonverbal learning disability, ADHD and similar difficulties, diagnosed and undiagnosed, have benefited from these methods. As a complementary book to the  Thinking about YOU Thinking about ME curriculum,  Think Social! sequences through eight chapters and 69 lessons that teach students the basics of working and thinking in a group. Each chapter addresses how to use and interpret language (verbal and nonverbal) to understand the contexts where real communication happens. The lessons span from kindergarten through adulthood. Teachers, parents, therapists and other caregivers are encouraged to modify activities to better fit the age of the students. Keep in mind, though, that the most basic activities are often necessary for even our brightest, most advanced and oldest students! The book offers strategies for K-12 – and into adulthood.

Inside Out: What Makes a Person with Social Cognitive Deficits Tick?
This book is where to start to learn more about how social problems connect to academic problems, such as reading comprehension and written expression. The book introduces Michelle’s ILAUGH model, which provides a way to pinpoint specific areas of challenges that a student may face and how these affect school, work and social interaction. For ages K-adulthood grade and beyond, this also provides insight on what information we expect students to develop “naturally” to become strong learners.

Thinking about YOU Thinking about ME
This is where to start to learn more about social interaction and social awareness. Understanding the perspectives of others is key to all interpersonal relationships. Many students, including those with high-functioning autism, Asperger syndrome, ADHD and similar social and communication challenges, have difficulties understanding that other people have perspectives that are different from their own. Michelle’s model of perspective-taking makes research into Theory of Mind practical for teaching these students and even students who may be considered “neurotypical.” Specific lessons, and how to apply them in different settings, are explored. The Four Steps of Communication creates a framework for understanding the complexities of social thinking and for enhancing perspective-taking in students. Social Behavior Mapping and IEPs are examined. How to focus concepts for ages and skill levels are presented through practical handouts, activities and lesson ideas. This second edition of Thinking About YOU Thinking About ME contains much expanded content, including two new chapters and an updated philosophy. The assessment chapter now includes the Social Thinking Dynamic Assessment Protocol®, with more detailed assessment techniques. For ages K-adulthood, the book provides the foundation for teaching students how to make social thinking work in their real lives and for using books like Superflex, You Are a Social Detective and others.

Worksheets! for Teaching Social Thinking and Related Skills
This book consists of 250 worksheets specifically designed to offer more lessons in teaching social thinking that dovetail both off the lessons discussed in all of Michelle G. Winner’s other books: Inside Out: What Makes the Person With Social Cognitive Deficits Tick? Thinking About You Thinking About Me, and the Think Social! A Social Thinking Curriculum for School Age Students. These lessons are in addition to most of the information in these other three books. The worksheets help to create a lesson plan, defining how to break down concepts for students to explore and they can used directly with students. The worksheets can be copied and sent to parents and other professionals to give an idea of what the student is learning and how to carry the concept over in their own environments. There are some worksheets for children Kindergarten through 2nd grade, the majority of the worksheets are for students in 3rd grade and higher, many of the worksheets are for middle and high school students; the ideas can be used with adults as well. Each worksheet page is coded for the recommended age group it targets.

A Politically Incorrect Look at Evidence-based Practices and Teaching
Social Skills: A Literature Review and Discussion
The concept of teaching social skills shortchanges the dynamic process that actually produces social skills. This issue is most acutely seen in students with autism spectrum disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome, PDD-NOS, nonverbal learning disability (NVLD)-and those who are undiagnosed but who are disrupting the classroom. These individuals struggle daily within an education system that is ill-suited to meet their needs. This book is for adults who are looking for strong background and recommendations for best practices for teaching social information to higher level students of all ages on the autism spectrum and with related disabilities.

The Fine Motor Olympics Manual and Activities book is comprised of 65 fine motor activities organized by the components of hand function that are involved in the activity and rated by level of difficulty.

Parents will love the quick movement breaks and othersuggestions to expand their child’s repertoire of self-regulation strategies.

The Out-Of-Sync Child brings practical help to caregivers and parents on coping with SID. Telltale symptoms like pickiness, over/undersensitivity, clumsiness and inattentiveness are often the first clues to SID.

Building Bridges Through Sensory Integration is user friendly and has hundreds of solution-based strategies that are practical and include instructions and illustrations.

Sensory Integration offers detailed practical information for addressing the needs of children with SPD, ages three and up. Categories include poor posture, clumsiness, excessive restlessness, fine-motor problems, and trouble with attention.

This booklet is packed with hundreds of ideas to make your time together successful. Includes tips suchas grocery outings, fast food restaurants, visiting the doctor, barbershop and much more.

The Interactive Reading Books are professionally designed using the power of visual strategies, children learn to associate pictures with words.  The awesome interactive nature of this book is rewarding to children with or without special needs.

Growing Up Social: Exploring How Social Communication Develops…and
Strategies to Help!
Active social skill development begins at birth and expands across our lifetime. This DVD looks at how social thinking supports the development of social skills from the first year of life, influencing language development and academic success, as well as the skills needed for adult living. Social thinking concepts and strategies are introduced to support this teaching across the home and school day, including an exploration of how we organize our communicative interactions and utilize active perspective-taking thoughout the day.

Social Behavior Mapping DVD
Corresponds with the book Social Behavior Mapping!
Cognitive behavioral techniques help a student to learn the thinking behind expected behaviors. Social Stories (developed by Carol Gray) are examples of cognitive behavioral techniques for teaching students how to cope within a specific context or with specific people. Social Behavior Mapping is yet another complimentary method, which helps students to undertstand how our behaviors (expected and unexpected) impact how people feel, which then impacts how they treat us, which impacts how we feel about ourselves.
Social Behavior Maps demonstrate to students how we all impact each other emotionally and behaviorally. This technique is not a panacea, but instead helps to demystify the complexity of social thought and related beaviors and is being embraced in classrooms throughout the United States. A short video clip explains the evolution of Social Behavior Mapping, followed by step-by-step instructions on how to use this valuable treatment strategy. Also included: a brief discussion of Michelle Garcia Winner’s other books and DVDs and their applicability to a variety of situations and audiences.

Social Concepts and Skills at School DVD
Carol Gray, author of Social Stories, and Mark Shelley, a video producer, have combined talents to create a training program for children, 8-12 years old, with Asperger’s Syndrome or high-functioning autism. Storymovies DVD includes 25 video vignettes illustrating social skills and concepts at school, like making mistakes and asking questions. The 25 movies are organized into 6 chapters.

Unlocking the Mysteries of Sensory Dysfunction
Parents are often the first to notice when a child is struggling with a sensory disorder. But even after knowing what the problem is, parents still need to know what to expect and, more importantly, what to do to help their child. This book is a parent-to-parent guide for raising a child with Sensory Integration Disorder. Using nonmedical language, the authors walk you through the challenges that children may face, such as being uncomfortable with hugs and kisses, experiencing a “fight or flight” sensation when brushing teeth or combing hair, etc. The two moms give tips and advice for school, home, and the future.

Here’s an etiquette book that teens will want to read—because it keeps them laughing, doesn’t preach, and deals with issues that matter to them, as teens themselves reported in a nationwide survey.
In the tradition of his best-selling Bringing Up Parents, Alex J. Packer blends outrageous humor with sound advice as he guides readers through the mysterious world of manners from A (“Applause”) to Z (“Zits”).
He starts by explaining why etiquette is important—because people who know how to handle themselves in social situations come out on top, get what they want, feel good about themselves, and enjoy life to the fullest.
Teens learn how to be a host with the most (and a guest with the best), what to do (and not do) when going online or waiting in line, how to deal with rude relatives, how to act at the mall and the concert hall, how to make introductions, who invented manners, and much more

Hurray for a book that makes special-needs parenting sound like something you can survive, even thrive with! Informed by a survey of over 500 moms who shared their worries, joys, tips and tricks, this book offers practical advice on topics as far-thinking as securing your child’s financial future and as right-now as finding a good babysitter.

Friendship, even for the most able, requires hard work, and the odds are heavily stacked against those with autism spectrum conditions. Designed for younger children, typically between the ages of two and eight, this comprehensive set of enjoyable activities emphasizes foundation skills such as social referencing, regulating behavior, conversational reciprocity and synchronized actions. The authors include many objectives to plan and evaluate a child’s progress, each one related to a specific exercise. Suitable for parental use, the manual is also designed for easy implementation in schools and in therapeutic settings. A comprehensive website, free to purchasers, acts as companion to the book.

From an award-winning author and advocate, Autism Life Skills presents a positive and empowering “bill of rights” for every person with autism, regardless of impairment level. With advice and reflections from autistic adults across the spectrum, as well as Sicile-Kira’s own experience as an advocate and parent of an autistic teen, the book covers these ten essential life skills:
Making Sense of the World * Communication * Safety * Self-Esteem * Pursuing Interests * Self-Regulation * Independence * Social Relationships * Self- Advocacy *Earning a Living
Whether your child or student has Asperger’s or is on the more severely impaired end of the autism spectrum, this action-oriented guide will provide hope and help — so that every child has a chance to reach his or her full potential.

Ever since he was small, John Robison had longed to connect with other people, but by the time he was a teenager, his odd habits—an inclination to blurt out non sequiturs, avoid eye contact, dismantle radios, and dig five-foot holes (and stick his younger brother in them) — had earned him the label “social deviant.” No guidance came from his mother, who conversed with light fixtures, or his father, who spent evenings pickling himself in sherry. It was no wonder he gravitated to machines, which could, at least, be counted on.

As a highly sensitive person (HSP) herself and a psychotherapist, Aron is in a strong position to provide guidance to parents who are raising highly sensitive children (HSCs), and provides here a wealth of useful suggestions and case studies.  Although HSCs tend to be “empathetic, smart, intuitive, careful and conscientious,” they are also easily overstimulated and require informed parenting in order to prevent temper tantrums, stress illnesses and the avoidance of pleasurable group activities. Aron offers helpful advice that will assist both nonsensitive and highly sensitive parents through all stages of their child’s development from infancy to adolescence. According to the author, there are four basic strategies that will help an HSC to become a happy adult: parents should foster their child’s self-esteem, try to reduce the feelings of shame HSCs may develop because they are different, employ only mild positive discipline and learn how to talk positively to teachers and friends about their HSC so that interactions will be productive.
